Thatcham Nature Discovery Centre
Quattro have undertaken extensive remodelling of an existing Nature Discovery Centre; the building has also been extended by the addition of a distinctive freestanding classroom. This project was undertaken for West Berkshire Council who required the design to be a showcase for environmental sustainability: high levels of insulation were specified with heating being provided by bio fuel pellet burner; the sedum roof classroom has an ingenious natural ventilation system which delivers passive cooling.
