Worcester 6th Form College
W6FC was a 1960’s 4 storey building with an exposed concrete frame, rendered masonry infill panels and single glazed aluminium windows. The building overheated in summer, was too cold in winter, there was deterioration of concrete frame and water penetration.
The college selected Quattro to: create a new outward branding for the college; improve the internal environment for students; bring the building to a standard with a 30-40 year life; phase the project to minimise disruption to the college.
The works comprised: repair of the concrete frame; replacement of the aluminium double glazed windows; brise soleil solar control; overclad masonry with composite insulated cladding; reroof with single ply membrane and install photovoltaic array.
We successfully evolved a construction strategy that allowed the college to operate successfully through the works with minimum of noise and disruption and was completed on time and to budget.
