Dymond House, Sutton

A new specialist extra care building for Housing and Care 21 and the London Borough of Sutton has now officially opened its doors to residents. The stunning new development facilitates 49 dementia friendly apartments, arranged in clusters, including 10 re-ablement apartments and 9 adult learning disability apartments.
The building is on a tight suburban site close to a neighbourhood centre and has a strong focus on independence and enablement at a time when the problem of memory loss is a very topical subject. The two and three storey layout encloses a large garden and each cluster has a private patio or large balcony.

The site is a sensitive infill adjacent to listed buildings and the new development steps up the slope with pitched roofs, balconies and gables breaking up the bulk. At the rear of the site a court of 5 two bedroom dormer bungalows for adults with learning difficulties is tucked in to complete the facility.
