Challenge
Churchill Academy was a casualty towards the end of the Building Schools for the Future Programme, earmarked for new school facilities just as the initiative was scrapped following a change in Government. Conscious that the opportunity for a completely new build was lost, Quattro were the Education Architects of choice, selected by the Academy to create a Premises Development Plan (PDP) for the school that could be implemented through phased funding.
Working with a core group of governors, staff and students, this strategic plan, developed by Quattro, has been used by the Academy to inform development decisions and identify projects for funding opportunities over the past 5 years. During this time, Churchill Academy has been successful in securing over £8 million of CIF funding for 4 separate projects from the Education and Skills Funding Agency, with Quattro’s assistance leading the CIF bidding, project design and delivery.
One of the most recent projects secured through CIF funding was the improvement of the Academy’s safeguarding scheme.

Solution
The site was not secure, with inadequate fencing, making it challenging to keep children safe. It has been replaced by new perimeter fencing and new pedestrian and vehicular gates, two of which are power opened with access control. Additional CCTV coverage has been provided across the site to increase surveillance. This has dramatically improved safeguarding across the site and led to greater staff, student and visitor safety during and after school hours.
An exceptionally talented group of design architects who go the extra mile for the client, they have worked on a considerable number of projects at our Academy, all delivered with skill, efficiency, on time and within budget. I recommend them without reservation.
