Tondu, Bridgend – Assisted Living/Extra Care
Later Living & Care Home Architects
Quattro has over 20 years’ experience creating award-winning architecture, designs, and schemes for the Later Living and Care Home sector. Projects range from chalet bungalows to large mixed-use Extra Care villages. Some schemes are designed to provide general enhancements and flexibility for older residents, others are designed to cater for more specialist requirements such as Dementia and Learning Disabilities. We understand the need for high-quality, inspiring environments which will attract downsizers as well as those who need care. We design buildings that are cost effective to run and simple to maintain and operate. Our schemes provide value for money. Foremost in our minds is that our residential care home designs are homes.

We provide a strong and positive lead on all projects. Our extensive experience through every project stage includes the development of Client Briefs and Feasibility Studies, as well as close collaboration with Contractors to deliver projects on site. This experience, complemented by the Team’s specialisms and training, enables us to offer industry-leading expertise to successfully deliver bespoke solutions to the Later Living and Care sector.
Within Later Living and Care Home Design, there are a number of specialisms, some overlapping, some distinctly different. A common theme across the sector is the specific attention to accessibility and adaptability; getting this right means we create supportive environments, not barriers. Quattro are experienced in delivering Later Living Schemes both for Housing Associations and for Private Specialist Providers and Developers. We have also delivered schemes directly to Councils, who often undertake them as part of Section 106 agreements agreed with planning authorities.
In developing designs, or undertaking working drawing packages, we rely on our detailed knowledge of varying construction types including traditional masonry, timber framing, metal framing and modern methods of construction including the UK’s first off-site modular Extra Care scheme.
We also welcome opportunities to bring our extensive expertise in Sustainable solutions to our Later living and Care design projects. We have developed electric-only solutions and regularly undertake energy studies to help ensure schemes will meet the demands of the climate emergency and be more cost-effective to run.
