Dora Matthews, Coleford, Gloucestershire – Dementia Care /ALD Care
Learning Difficulty (ALD) Architects
There are many types of home settings provided for Adults with Learning Disabilities and/or autism. At Quattro, our extensive design experience within Housing, Healthcare and Later Living with Care equips us well in the provision of specialist design services for people with Learning Disability.
Transforming lives lies at the heart of all our schemes. The sensitive design of a home can be critical in providing an individual with the best possible opportunity to maximise their independence and engage with the wider community.
Over three quarters of current Specialised Supported Housing (SSH) is currently provided within shared housing settings, i.e. with tenants having a room in a supported housing scheme with shared communal facilities. There is however a trend in providing more self-contained apartments which are often grouped together to provide community clusters. Quattro are using their expertise in this sector to develop a new briefing document with LiveWest Housing Association to enable the development of these cluster type SSH schemes across the Southwest. For further guidance on SSH, Mencaps Guidance provides useful reading.
