They are highly creative and convert inspiring ideas into viable solutions. They are flexible and responsive, with a hands on approach. QDA provide an exceptional service and are a pleasure to work with. We have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending them.

Stephen Locke, Bursar
Pate’s Grammar School, Cheltenham

Through the proven delivery of professional approach, innovative design concepts, attention to detail and collaborative approach to the design and construction process, Quattro have become a designer of choice within Speller Metcalfe.

Andy Metcalfe, Joint Managing Director
Speller Metcalfe, Gloucester

An exceptionally talented group of design architects who go the extra mile for the client, they have worked on a considerable number of projects at our Academy, all delivered with skill, efficiency, on time and within budget. I recommend them without reservation.

Mark Branch, Deputy Headteacher
Churchill Academy, North Somerset

Commitment extended well beyond the accepted working day hours and meant the community felt fully and engaged and listened to.

Andy Hough, Head of Education Development
Herefordshire Council

Having worked for a number of years on several frameworks and many local schemes, we have found that our projects have always benefitted from Quattro's talented and enthusiastic individuals.

Alan Wooldridge, Special Projects Manager
Kier, Gloucester

Quattro's close attention to detail and thought that went into the design and planning stage of the development is clearly evident and their thoroughness was maintained during the construction phase.

Rod Cook, Bursar
Queen Elizabeth Hospital School, Bristol

We have always found the Quattro team to be efficient, professional and proactive in all the projects where we have worked together.

Divisional Director
E G Carter & Co Ltd, Gloucester

We selected the team because they combined experienced, imaginative and environmentally sensitive design capability with a highly responsive approach as regards the client brief, working within tight planning constraints whilst building a deep understanding of the students’ needs. In this regard, we were not disappointed.

Eve Jardine-Young, Principal
Cheltenham Ladies' College, Cheltenham

The unit has now been visited by some of the leading international experts in acute psychiatric care some of whom have commented that the unit may be amongst the best in the world.

Roland Dix, Consultant Nurse and Editor in Chief
International Journal of Psychiatric Intensive care

The commitment shown to meeting very tight deadlines, strict planning regulations and understanding the complexities of the local area has been phenomenal. This has been a huge task and we are delighted that Quattro have ensured that planning permission has been granted for our fabulous school.

Helen Webb, Headteacher
Colwall C of E Primary School, Malvern

Our architects really listened to the outcomes that were important to us as a friendly and welcoming dental practice and managed to surpass them for both us and our patients.

Ellen Pawley, Practice Manager
Broad Street Dental Surgery, Hereford

We particularly enjoy Quattro's willingness to work with us to support and engage with others outside the design team, working with schools, colleges and local communities to inform and help stimulate interest and understanding of the construction industry.

Andy Metcalfe, Joint Managing Director
Speller Metcalfe, Gloucester

You have an incredibly flexible approach. Not only do you understand funding constraints but also the limitations on time that staff at the school will have and are happy to do everything possible to minimise their workload.

Development Officer
Pate’s Grammar School, Cheltenham

The close co-operation between clinical staff and the architects resulted in an exceptional building. As clinical lead for the project, I was extremely impressed with the ability of the designer to use creative flair transforming the core functional requirements of the unit into something quite special. cont/...

... The project management by Quattro design was also outstanding.

Roland Dix, Consultant Nurse and Editor in Chief

As a headteacher, it is rare to be given a building where the needs of pupils have been at the very heart of the design. With colour, shape and a texture chosen for interest and stimulation, this is certainly a building that will facilitate pupil learning.

Paula Needham, Headteacher
Kingsway Primary School, Gloucestershire

Sustainability permeates our culture as well as our design

In 1984 at inception, Quattro was delivering Sustainable Design. We were ahead of the game. Today, more than ever, Architectural Sustainability lies at the core of our thinking.

Applying our extensive experience and expertise, we work collaboratively with our clients to develop comprehensive sustainable solutions that are practical, affordable, and appropriate to each project. We firmly believe in getting the basic design right and in using natural passive dynamics to reduce energy demand and create enduring, cost-effective, and energy-efficient buildings.

We are experienced in achieving BREEAM accreditation and using this process from an early stage to guide the design and procurement through a wide range of sustainable issues. We are members of the AECB and Passivhaus Trust and our Passivhaus accredited architects are in-house.

We have signed up to the Architects declare register and are working towards the 2030 climate challenge. Quattro Design Architects is an ISO 45001 accredited company. Sustainability permeates our culture as well as our design, our green credentials are important to us.

Zero Carbon

Net Zero Carbon Architecture is high on our agenda

Great collaboration delivers design and technical excellence

The “solitary genius” who spontaneously receives creative ideas doesn’t exist, and we see that as a good thing. Over the years, our creative Team has learnt that designing collaboratively delivers better design.

Engaging conversation with contractors, clients, designers and end-users, stimulates ideas and this in turn, creates an environment for continuous improvement, openness between all parties, a readiness to accept new ideas, trust, and mutual benefit.

As a result, a much stronger, more powerful and effective team is born.

At Quattro, we  strive to create technically excellent design that conveys truth, sustainability and value through collaboration.

We are passionate about our work, our communities and our environment

Quattro, as a practice, emerged from Solon Housing Association over 35 years ago when our mission was to focus on social and environmental architecture. We were on topic. Today, social value and benefitting society, the communities and the individuals we work with, as well as our environment, still lie at the heart of our ethos.

We see social value as a responsibility. During Lockdown, we were hailed as Business & Community Champions when we were quick off the mark to transform our 3D printers for the manufacture of essential face shield equipment. Sharing our Architectural and Sustainable Design experience and passion with young people and local communities lies at the core of our work. We currently support the CIOB, RIBA and Constructing Excellence where our staff frequently undertake the Chairperson role in webinars and presentations, promoting Architecture to an even broader audience. We actively fundraise for local charities and as a leading Sustainable Architectural practice, we take our green credentials seriously.
