“An architectural walk is a great way to combine Quattro’s passion for architecture with our love of the city of Gloucester. This route combines some of the rich history and heritage the city has to offer, with modern cultural spots and a glimpse into what Gloucester will offer in the not-too-distant future. Within this route lie a few hidden gems previously unseen, even by long-term residents of our cherished city.

I personally have only lived in Gloucester for a few years, but this has given me the opportunity to explore this landscape with fresh eyes.

My first love has to be the Cathedral, beautifully detailed with an incredible history, enhanced by recent landscaping – worthy of a tour just in itself!

Secondly, I always enjoy walking through Gloucester Docks. The range of old warehouse buildings are a great reminder of the industrial history of Gloucester, as a hub for both trade and manufacturing. These, along with many stops along the route, remain an attractive historic backdrop to the innovative new developments taking place around the city. The Forum, Kings Walk and Kings Square improvement works, the University Campus to open in the former Debenhams building, the Shire Hall refurbishment and the Food Docks will all play a role in reshaping and regenerating the heart of Gloucester. This much needed revitalisation  brings Gloucester to the forefront of modern technology, with a flurry of new business, retail and cultural offerings.

Quattro’s Architectural Walk has been designed to fit within an hour’s brisk walking, a lunch time for example, explored in depth at your own pace or worked into a shopping trip around the city. It also intersects with major transport links for those travelling from outside the city centre.”
