Why Quattro?

Working in the architecture industry offers a challenging and rewarding career.

Quattro boasts in excess of 40 years’ experience, and prides itself on staff career development. When you join Quattro’s team, you’re joining a dedicated, experienced and friendly group of individuals who come together to form a practice dedicated to being Creative, Innovative and Collaborative.

Quattro Design Architects is an Equal Opportunities employer and inclusive organisation. We are committed to supporting equality and diversity throughout the practice and promote equality of opportunity for everybody who has dealings with us, irrespective of their race, gender, disability, religion, beliefs, sexual orientation or age.

Quattro is an established and growing Architectural practice. Our stunning, state-of-the-art headquarters are located in a beautiful historic warehouse within the vibrant centre of Gloucester Quays. Easy access, subsidised parking and excellent transportation links all contribute to Quattro’s convenient location.

We are a dynamic, professional and talented team and are always on the lookout for exceptional individuals. We are passionate about our work, our people and our environment. Quattro was delivering sustainable architecture 35+ years ago, we were early in our adoption of BIM, and collaboration and social responsibility have been at the heart of our ethos since 1984. We are a forward-thinking practice and we encourage like-minded professionals to connect with us. With our reputation for sustainability and collaboration, you will join an experienced Team with a diverse portfolio spanning multiple sectors.

We are also passionate about Design. Within Quattro, members meet to discuss broader design topics not typically within our regular work flow. These sessions (the Design Party), encompass discussions relating to graphic design, art, product design, design theory and more. From these interactions, several competition submissions have been formulated, resulting in great success with shortlisting from the RIBA, credits from The Architects Journal, Dezeen and our mention in several news outlets including
BBC News.

Alongside the job satisfaction of our employees and below average absence rate, our stand-out benefits include: flexible working hours, additional leave for long service, a healthcare cash plan, subsidised parking and a generous pension scheme. If you would like to work in our successful practice, you can contact us directly or via our enquiry form below.

Career Stories

From some of our previous hires and their first hand accounts

Ben Chamberlain, Part II Architectural Assistant

Ben joined Quattro in June 2019 and is part of our Health and Leisure Team. As a Part II Architectural Assistant, Ben has been responsible for a large variety of projects, engaging in work stages from feasibility through to construction.

In his spare time, Ben enjoys playing football and walking his dog through the Gloucestershire countryside.

Colm Coyle, Senior Associate Architect

I joined Quattro as a Part I Architect student in 2001. The fact that I’m still here almost 25 years on, as a Senior Associate Architect, is testament to the commitment Quattro have in supporting young designers and providing a platform from which to progress their careers.

Through a combination of hard work, responsibility, and being given the opportunity to develop the skills needed to become an accomplished designer, I have been able to significantly advance my career, and while doing so, I have gained confidence in my skills as a designer, project manager and team leader.

I now find myself in the fortunate position of being able to provide the same level of support to other up and coming young architects and designers. Quattro’s philosophy of mentoring and encouraging those through all stages of their careers, to become successful and skilled architectural designers, is embedded in the foundations of the organisation.

Chloe Searle, Architectural Technician

I have always enjoyed being creative, but it wasn’t until we had an extension on our family home that my interest in the industry was really sparked. It was thanks to our Architect that I became aware of Quattro. I undertook a weeks’ work experience with Quattro’s housing team and came to the realisation that this is what I wanted to do as a career. Following my work experience placement, I was offered a position within the team and have now been here since 2019.

I took the route of working alongside my qualifications. I already knew that university would not suit me as I am more hands on and enjoy carrying tasks at hand (it also meant I would start earning early on in my life). I worked 4-days a week and attended Gloucestershire College for the remaining day. This was not the easiest route as having the perfect balance between work and college is vital. This is where working within a practice whilst studying is so valuable as Quattro provided me with help and support with my time management. The housing team ensured my workload was sustainable, achievable and that I still had time to complete my coursework. At the end of my 4 years at Gloucestershire College I had achieved a level 3 & 4 diploma as well as becoming a key member within the housing team.

By taking this route I am now qualified as an Architectural Technician and have gained enough years of experience to undertake the CIAT accreditation scheme. It has also allowed me to enrol myself in an SAP assessor course to better my knowledge in the industry. None of this would’ve been possible without the support from the team at Quattro.
