Gloucestershire’s ground-breaking facility supporting the needs of disabled children and adults across the county was officially opened this week by HRH, The Princess Royal.

The Princess received a warm welcome before embarking on a guided tour of the new centre, speaking to guests, trustees and volunteers along the way.

It is wonderful to see the Chamwell Centre – so generously supported with important contributions from  individuals and major donors, coming to fruition. Our Catherine Ashworth, Associate and Project Architect for the centre, was delighted to attend the opening ceremony.

The Chamwell Centre will make a positive and long-lasting difference transforming the lives of children and adultswith disabilities across Gloucestershire.

The centerpiece of the visionary and unique Chamwell Centre is the new 15m long hydrotherapy pool, one of the UK’s first multi-sensory therapy pools with the latest state-of-the-art video and light installations that provide full immersive sensory therapy for students. It is able to take eight non-ambulant pupils and their one to one carer. It is also one of the largest hydrotherapy pools in the country.
