Construction of Phase II of the highly anticipated Post 16 Unit at Alderman Knight has been completed.
After the school nearly closed in the early 2000’s, Quattro’s Education Architects have been busy over the years radically transforming and significantly extending Alderman Knight Special School into the inspiring facility it is today.
The latest project to reach completion, after the hugely successful transformation of the main school buildings, is the new Post 16 Unit, completed in April 2021.
The development of the new facilities was vital to provide spaces for students aged 16-19 who would have previously left the school all together. It also provides much needed additional post 16 SEND spaces to the wider county.
Due to the staggered release of funding for the project, the construction of the development was split into two phases.
The first phase was completed in 2017, responding to the immediate need for 15 spaces.
The second phase, providing 30 additional spaces, was completed in April 2021 consolidating the new premises.
