Yesterday, Quattro’s Education Architect and Senior Associate Joyce Clifford, had the pleasure of speaking to students at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital School’s ‘Girls in STEM’ seminar.
An experienced ambassador of social responsibility with a commitment to inspiring and supporting future generations of young women into the Architectural Services sector, Joyce enjoyed sharing her career experience. Architecture – is one of the core STEM careers and Joyce’s insight, including detail of the day-to-day life of an Architect, clearly demonstrated that STEM can be a highly engaging and creative career choice. There are options when it comes to access routes into Architecture and Joyce was keen to share this with the girls at QEH.
The talk itself took place in the Brandon Hill Building, designed by Quattro’s talented Education Team – a fitting place to illustrate the creative complexities of Architecture! The sustainable new build is an excellent example of design challenges that Architectural students could face and innovatively overcome. Located on a steeply sloping, landlocked site with conservation issues, Quattro overcame the complexities to deliver a responsive, innovative and highly sustainable design.
