Supporting Growth in Oxfordshire
Construction works are underway for our Extra Care Architects' latest scheme set to address housing shortage in Oxfordshire
This new Extra Care development for Housing 21 in Didcot, forms part of the Great Western Park Urban Extension Scheme. Funding was received by the Oxfordshire Housing and Growth deal as part of the £150m secured for infrastructure and £60m for Affordable Housing. It provides much needed Retirement Housing in the county; with aspirations to address local shortages by freeing up larger homes currently inhabited by the older generation. By offering attractive Retirement Living options to these residents it is hoped that some larger homes will become available on the market for younger families.
The three storey development will provide 60 rental apartments and 20 shared ownership apartments, with a 24 hour care service if needed. A range of on site facilities will include a cafe/bistro, hair salon and communal areas to promote independent living within a community setting.
On a restricted site, Quattro’s specialist Retirement Living Architects secured planning permission for the development in March 2020. In response to site constraints this location-led design incorporates 3 buildings around an internal courtyard. Contemporary design has been integrated via a street front dining space with a metal standing seam clad facade and a roof terrace overlooking a central garden.
Deeley Construction is due to complete works in early 2023.
Quattro Design Architects is delighted to be able to support ongoing economic investment in Oxfordshire.
