Commercial Architecture – Enterprise Hub

The Enterprise Hub is a high-level feasibility design exploring the potential of constructing a brand-new mixed-use enterprise development in a major city centre location.

The design and finishes show honest and expressive workmanship, appreciating the raw materials for what they are, creating an environment that is simplistic in nature but visually striking when combined together.

The Challenge

The Enterprise Hub is a high-level feasibility design, by our talented commercial architects, exploring the potential of constructing a brand-new mixed-use enterprise development in a major city centre location. Keep reading to learn more about Quattro’s commercial architecture experience.

Bridging the Gap

This commercial architecture project bridges the gap between community and modernisation, creating a progressive enterprise hub.

The ground floor includes an indoor and outdoor market with event space, serving the local community’s needs.

The first floor offers flexible working spaces to support SMEs and start-ups, fostering business growth.

A roof terrace on the second floor serves as a bar and social area, with adaptable breakout zones and event space. The fully landscaped public realm provides social gathering spaces, encouraging community engagement.

Biophilic design seamlessly blends interior and exterior, enhancing natural light, mental well-being, and sustainability. Natural light floods the workspace through a second-floor skylight, reducing energy costs and boosting user comfort.

This project creates a dynamic development that enhances local character and promotes all-day community interaction.

Design Challenges

The existing site posed several challenges, including steep slopes, close proximity to commercial units, busy roads, and nearby housing.

However, these challenges offered opportunities to incorporate clever design solutions that mitigate constraints and enhance functionality.

For instance, our team developed a connected design that balances privacy with community integration, addressing both work and leisure needs.

By separating workspaces from market and leisure areas, users can enjoy a calm yet inspired environment while staying connected to local amenities.

Ultimately, this design harmonises privacy, productivity, and community interaction, creating a vibrant, functional space for all.

Our Solution

Our commercial architects designed the Enterprise Hub to blend playfully with the surrounding context and historical values.

They incorporated contemporary design elements like a curved red brick wall, hit-and-miss patterning, and protruding brickwork, reflecting local vernacular.

Furthermore, the flowing architecture and landscaped public spaces invite exploration, piquing curiosity through visual and auditory experiences.

The design and finishes showcase honest, expressive craftsmanship, highlighting raw materials to create a simple yet visually striking environment.

Sustainability in Commercial Architecture

As part of Quattro’s ethos, we aimed to enhance the space using sustainable, low-carbon design principles throughout the project.

We included a green roof, external timber cladding, and a structural glulam frame to support carbon sequestration and sustainability.

Additionally, solar PV panels on the green roof reduce fuel reliance, while water harvesting and recycling minimize water usage.

Sustainability extended beyond materials—we sourced most construction materials locally, within 60 minutes of the site, reducing carbon miles.

By prioritising local sourcing, we balanced sustainability with efficient, eco-friendly design choices.
