Broad Street Dental Surgery

Our specialist Healthcare Architects were asked to undertake a Feasibility Study to identify which of two potential units within the existing four-story concrete frame office block, would be the most suitable and financially viable for the relocation of the Dental practice. Following the success of the Feasibility Study, Quattro was instructed to design the new dental surgery in the identified unit.

With our extensive Healthcare Architecture experience, Quattro’s solution was to design the new surgery with three bright, private surgeries and an open, welcoming waiting area making the most of the fantastic views over the city.  After extensive consultation with the dental team, we were able to understand their aspirations and for this new surgery.

Broad Street Dental Surgery was skilfully designed, taking into consideration a wide range of complex issues surrounding the limitations of the existing structure and layout, as well as the integration of specialist services requirements pertaining to dental surgery.

Making the most of these constraints, Quattro maximised the use of the existing windows by ensuring each surgery, the waiting area and the staffroom room were located adjacent to the existing windows.

We also utilised the existing staircase which provided a natural break in the plan to create two zones with the entrance and waiting area in the middle.

The curved design of the waiting room and entrance maximises the use of natural light to create a feeling of openness, allowing a more welcoming environment for patients at reception. This helped foster a calming and relaxed atmosphere, an important design element for the reduction of patient anxiety.

The layout for the clustering of the surgeries and decontamination room has also helped staff to work as efficiently as possible. New partitions were carefully designed to meet radiation and acoustic requirements.
