The Challenge
Quattro Design Architects has been the hospital architect of choice for many years designing and delivering major refurbishments of operating theatres as part of a rolling programme for Cheltenham General Hospital.
More recently, Quattro was appointed to design the refurbishment of GT1 and GT2 theatres as well as the reconfiguration spaces to enhance efficiency, preparation and the installation of up-to-date equipment and services for Cheltenham General Hospital.

Our Solution
Before works began, the Trust decided that two theatres could not be out of action at the same time, therefore, a modular theatre was implemented as a temporary facility.
Quattro led the design team in designing a plug-in site facility with the M&E consultants to service the modular building. All preparatory works including foundations and services were fully detailed, designed and installed prior to the unit’s delivery.
The unit was delivered on a weekend with no disruption to the hospital and following theatre validation; the unit continues to run successfully.
