Severn Vale Technology Centre

Quattro has successfully worked with Severn Vale School over a number of years where we have supported the Academy’s ethos in the projects undertaken, one of inclusion, high academic achievement, and concern for human qualities and relationships.

Quattro was initially appointed to create a Premises Development Plan for the 1200 pupil secondary school. The first phase of which saw the development of a new £1M Learning Resource Centre. This flexible space provides a library, IT, conference and social areas. Available for use by the community the much-needed facilities enhance out of hours letting capacity for the Academy.

The second phase saw the development of a new £3M Design and Technology block. A flagship project for the school, the brief was to create a building that showcased the Academy’s specialist curriculum and provided a modern learning environment to attract future students.

Quattro’s focus on sustainable and energy efficient design was paramount in the development of the project and was of particular interest to students engaged with the design process.

Our ‘Fabric First’ approach to sustainable design commences with a thorough understanding of how our client’s environments are to be used and operated. Quattro incorporated high levels of insulation, natural ventilation, maximised daylight and considerably reduced running and maintenance costs through limited service provision whilst, ensuring simplicity in operation.

The project was delivered in a short time frame despite the added complexities of working around a fully operational school, along with the associated CDM considerations, phasing and buildability.

Quattro are recognised for making our client’s budgets work extremely hard with innovative ideas and careful consideration of where to use materials – this project was no exception.
