The King’s C of E Secondary School

The existing school was in poor condition and required rebuilding. Commissioned by the ESFA (Education and Skills Funding Agency) Quattro’s education architects worked with Mott MacDonald providing Architectural Services to conduct a high-level desk top comparison of two available sites that could accommodate the redeveloped Clough Hall Technology School. The new build school was expected to become a 4FE school catering for up to 600 pupils.

The Option Assessment provided an initial review of the potential for each site by identifying constraints and opportunities in advance of the comprehensive Feasibility Study link and detailed site-specific survey works.

Since the study, the school, now known as the King’s Church of England Secondary School, opened its brand new £14 million building in November 2016 and boasts the following:

• Three storey atrium for dining and learning experiences
• School hall with theatre style seating
• A community “hub” including an award-winning bistro and hair and beauty salon
• 5 industry standard high spec science laboratories
• Dedicated computing suites with Wi-Fi throughout the building
• A new 6th Form Centre incorporating seminar suites, recreation zones and a learning hub
• An expansive technology and vocational area combining traditional workshop spaces alongside 3D print and design rooms
• A brand new 3-court sports hall, dance studio and changing rooms
• A modern mix of large open classrooms and small group areas for academic subjects.
