Weavers Croft, Stroud – Internal Reconfiguration

Following the successful completion of works at the Forest of Dean Hub, Quattro’s Healthcare Architects were commissioned to carry out minor refurbishment works to a replica building in Stroud – Weavers Croft.

Similar to the FoD hub, Weavers Croft was also a former elderly care in-patient unit which had been transformed into a mental health out-patient unit with office space for several community mental health teams.

Following a reorganisation of the teams the existing accommodation needed to be upgraded to meet the requirements of the relocated teams. Quattro’s Hospital Architects worked closely with the unit and the Trust project manager to improve the patient and staff experience.

Our Healthcare Design Team refurbished the open plan office, clinic and cleaners’ rooms and re-designed the waiting area, enlarging it and reconfiguring the toilets to provide a disabled WC.

The waiting area which can be observed from reception, provides a welcoming space as patients and staff enter the building. Careful consideration was given to the acoustics between the waiting room and adjacent consultation room. The design ensures the consultant rooms and private spaces remain quiet, acoustically separated from the waiting area.

Quattro created new individual offices where staff can carry out private phone calls with patients, away from the open plan office. Upgrading the finishes has transformed Weavers Croft into a bright and friendly space to work.

Construction was carried out in phases, to ensure minimum disruption to staff and visitors who continued to use the building whilst the works were carried out. Contractors access routes were also organised to minimise cross over with staff and patients.

The building now meets the needs of both staff and patients providing a great space for the local community to access mental health services.
